Just got back from a two show engagement with James Rivera’s Metal Asylum. We did friday night in San Antonio and saturday in College Station. The band consists of James Rivera (probably did not have to list him, I suspect that much is rather obvious), Mikey Lewis (Helstar), Marc Petillion and Scott Fisher (Winter’s End), and of course…yours truly (that would be me).
The band plays older metal covers from the likes of Priest, Maiden, Flotsam, Scorpions, Merciful Fate, and many more. Normally I consider myself retired from playing covers, but if the gig is fun enough than I am more than happy to do it, and that is the case here. All the guys are lots of fun and everybody had a good time.
An interesting side note was a kid I met on Friday night who wanted to know if we had CD’s for sale…bwahahahaha. I told him we were playing covers and he seemed baffled. Who the fuck has never heard of Judas Priest???? Besides my Mom.
I am very upset with our three cats for the evil prank they pulled on me. I had called Lori on Friday before she got off work to see if there was anything I could do to help her get ready so we could leave as soon as she got off. There were too many items to list here, but a very important one was to make sure I packed her shoes. Of course I would never forget to do that. However, fucking Thurber Mingus (I know it was that little bastard) somehow managed to get her shoes out of the suitcase and back into the closet unbeknownst to me.
This would cause me some minor domestic problems later. Evil little fuck (the cat, not my wife). Anyway, a quick trip to the store foiled his little plot.
You can tell by the picture that his soul is filled with malice and sinister motives.
I was very proud that Lori spent most of the weekend wearing my “Don’t Fuck Little Kids” jacket. This just proves her excellent taste (another reason on the list of the many on why I married her).
Anyway, make sure all of the you that can come to try and catch the Houston show on April 14.
I will make sure to post a reminder closer to the time and James told me today that there might be a Corpus Christi show in the works.
Am I the only one that thinks of Morrowind when someone mentions Corpus Christi? It makes me think of Corpus Disease…
Keep the metal alive…go listen to some right now.
