Ahhh…yes boys and girls, there is still quite a bit of practice going on over here in Dr. Froth land.
In fact, there is much more than usual…to the tune of about three or four hours a day. So what am I doing? I am learning the two handed tapping portion of my NS/STICK. Most of the time I play this instrument like a bass guitar with the range from hell…but that is leaving out a big portion of what this instrument was designed to do.
I busted out the Jazz Real Book…and began working on Autumn Leaves. When I told The Frenchman, he said “You’re playing jazz???” While this is not my best field at all…the real book does give me a great learning tool by giving me the melody and chord progressions for several hundred songs so that I can learn how to play them both at the same time.
In addition to the Jazz standards I am also working on several classical pieces. Right now I am about halfway through Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring by Bach.
This is all in addition to keeping the Six Minute Century stuff worked up and rehearsing all the Iron Maiden songs for our recent revival of Iron Mayhem.
I am happy with my progress, though it has been keeping me from many other things (housework, this blog, spanking it, etc…)
Six Minute Century is back in the studio on Monday…I’ll take some pictures and post an update.
