I felt the first good surge of results today since I began my work with the NS/STICK.
This afternoon I completed learning the linear tour of Emin. This encompassed all eight strings in the exact manner that the name suggests. After getting that under my fingers (been working on it for three days), I moved on to the Emin vertical tour. I worked out the fingerings for the 5th, 6th, and 7th positions. I am really beginning to think that I am on to something here with this approach. It is doubtful that the other chords will take as long as this one, due to the fact that I am learning how this system works at the same time I am learning the chord. On the next one…I’ll just be learning a new chord.
I am still trying to figure out exactly how to handle using the stick in Six Minute Century. We use three different tunings and I want to play this instrument on every song. I am wavering back and forth on whether or not I want to tune it one half step down and just re-learn the whole step parts. This might be lame as I would have to use an odd two hand tap pattern for some of the runs that have a lot of open strings. I am relatively sure that I could do this…but not positive. My other thought would be to tune it a whole step down and then use two guitar kapos on the first fret to bring it back up to half-step tuning. This is kind of weird…but it could work. I think I’ll buy a couple of kapos tomorrow and give it a try. You never know….
And how bout “The Fin?” I’ll be working on a new prototype next week and hope to begin practice with it real soon.
On a side note…I keep catching the dampener on the first fret and activating it while playing in first position. This is getting on my nerves. I’m doing some serious thinking about making something to slip in that crack that will keep the damn thing from engaging unless I want it to do so.
Well, that sould get everybody up to speed. I’ll let you know how things work out on these exciting issues…haha.
