Yesterday I find myself on an outing with Lori watching her daughter play a soccer game. As I watch the four year olds attempt to do this, I am struck with an amazing moment of clarity (Yep…just like when addicts finally can look at themselves and see the addiction).
There was a goalie, laying down on the grass without a care in the world. Many of the other children would become confused at random intervals and begin to kick the ball in the wrong direction. Some of them would become distracted by a balloon in the sky or a bird or something and completely forget what they were doing. Yet, amazingly and despite all odds, a one-hour soccer game materialized out of the insanity. It was very entertaining to watch, and as I did so, it occurred to me– this is exactly how our elected officials run the government.
I can just see Obama running around forgetting which way he was supposed to kick the health care reform bill. Or Nancy Pelosi, watching a balloon drift by as millions of illegal immigrants pour into our country. Or John McCain, laying down while the democrats kick retarded policies into the goal net.
Fortunately, our children will grow up and no longer be four years old. In a few years the mysteries of soccer will be mastered by them.
Unfortunately, our president and representatives are as grown up as they are going to get. Maybe we should get rid of all of them and elect Pre-K kids to run our country. The results can’t be much worse.
